I’m so excited! I just purchased a new juice recipe book called “Raw Food Juice Bar” by Phillip McClusky of LovingRaw.com. The recipes look really good, and I cannot wait to try them. I’m just so sick of my plain ole’ boring vegetable juices. I’m also an affiliate for this book and any other product on sale at LovingRaw.com, so please go take a look: http://tinyurl.com/y2lcyoz.
Now that I have some new recipes, I decided to start a Juice Fast this weekend because I’ve been really fatigued lately, and I really need to detoxify my system. I’ve never done a juice fast before, just an Isagenix fasting program. It uses a mineral drink instead of juice. I’ve never made it longer than 2 days on one of those — and I haven’t done any fasting in over a year.
I won’t be able to do a very long fast – not at first anyway. I have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and it is really difficult to maintain when eating, much more, fasting. The worst part about it is that I won’t even be hungry and my blood sugar will just plummet, causing me to have to eat something. Therefore, I eat about 6 times a day, just to ensure my blood sugar is stable.
Plus, I have to take a few medications and some of them affect my blood sugar, so I have to be extra careful.
So my plan is to do a 1 day fast, then take a day off, and then do a 2-day fast, then take a day off, like that until I can build up to a 3 or 7 day fast. That’s the plan, we’ll just have to see how it goes. I’m going to try this over a 30 day period, and I’ll be sharing it with you all the way.
My first recipe had all sorts of tasty ingredients in it. Lemons, pears, coconut oil, sea salt, Aloe Vera, and raw honey. After I juiced the lemons and pears, I tried to put everything in my blender, but I have such an old timey blender, it didn’t get close to fitting. But then again, it ended up filling a giant pitcher, so I’m not sure it would have fit in any other blender either.
The only real problem I had with this recipe was the coconut oil. The kind I bought came in a paste, and I didn’t warm it up first. I just scooped it into the blender cold. I had a ton of little pieces of coconut oil floating at the top of the blender. Of course, that also could have been because my blender is from the 1900’s, but I don’t know.
Anyway, the juice was so good, I just kept drinking it, I just couldn’t stop. I literally had to hold myself back! I ate so much that I almost ran out of juice during the day, and it was supposed to last me through entire day and evening.
Everything went really well though on my first day of fasting. I did have to eat a banana first thing is the morning because I was getting all weak and shaky. Also, it seemed to take forever to put everything together, with the cold coconut oil and ancient blender. I did not really have any blood sugar problems all day, but I did get hungry in the afternoon and evening. I did have a lot more energy though. It was great.
That’s the end of Day 1. On to the next ……

Haha, thats greate and it did sound delicious! I tried fasting once before – I think it was a juice and vegetable juice fast or something. Maybe lasted 2 days. I will follow your progress and maybe I’ll try again – especially if the drinks are like what you made
Can you drink as much as you want?

Yes, you can drink as much as you like. Thank goodness for that!
